Cool New Eco-Friendly Outdoor/Travel Products

Coalatree Outdoor Apparel

Just discovered this company and their cool outdoor apparel. They not only make some great products at reasonable prices, but also have their philosophy in the right place for our ailing planet.

“Unbeknown to most, Coalatree started out as a self-sustaining organic farm in Colorado. The farm focused around a “reap what you sow” mentality, and integrated sustainable practices with quality products. Wanting to create our own workwear, we first launched a line of clothing in 2010, and have continued on to the outdoor industry, all while maintaining our roots in sustainably produced goods.”

I have tried out their Trailhead Pants ($79), which come in multiple colors, a bit more stylish than REI (in my opinion). Wore them over leggings on a paddle in Puget Sound in Fall weather, and on trails near my home on Whidbey Island, Washington. Super comfy just for lounging around or getting out there.

Ori London

I used one of these backpacks, The Canfield ($90), on my recent trip to Europe as my second piece of carry-on luggage. They’re beautiful, roomy, and comfortable to wear. There’s a nice pocket for a laptop, side pockets for waterbottles, inside and outside pockets for passports, a carrying strap, and padded back. At last a stylish backpack for my grown up journeys.

Best of all these gorgeous backpacks are made of recycled materials:

“Our nylon bags are made using pre-consumer fabric waste such as scraps, rejects, offcuts and trimmings. We take this waste that would otherwise be thrown out and spin it into new material. Recycling this waste creates a durable nylon and is a great way to reduce waste.

We don’t use any animal products and all ORI London bags and backpacks are vegan-friendly and arrive in cornstarch-based, biodegradable packaging.”

Love these new products and also being able to support companies that care about our planet.
